Top Gear – James May (Honda FCX Clarity Hydrogen)

You know I like new gadgets, so a car that runs on hydrogen and emits only water vapor? Too cool. I know there are many, many hurdles yet to jump before the “Hydrogen Economy” moves from dream to reality–in fact it is probably this generation’s moonshot. It will be interesting to see if we “shoot for the moon” or just keep gazing. I hope ideas like the Clarity don’t end up like the “cars of the future” I used to look at with wonder in my grandfather’s old 1940’s copies of Popular Mechanics. For those, we are still waiting.

    I love the Jay Leno quote : “here in America we love to have every one what we are doing anonymously”

    As to the car… we are actually seeing more “Gas Stations” carrying ethanol, maybe hydrogen fueling station will be next.

  2. Bill says:

    “here in America we love to have every one know what we are doing anonymously” I forgot the word “know” the st time…..

  3. James says:

    That was a good line. Many a truth is spoken in jest.

  4. Mike says:

    Until the Global Misting starts to “catch steam”, right?

  5. James says:

    Wanna go in on a “dihydrogen monoxide offset” business?

  6. Jim whitehead says:

    I would love to agree that the clarity is the new dawn, but I think folks are missing one vital point – which we need to debate. Hydrogen is a fuel store NOT a fuel source! It must be made from coal, oil natural gas or wood, and compressing or liquefying hydrogen takes energy. Piping hydrogen is also a problem because of the amount engergy required for pumping.

    let the debate begin,
