The first winter storm of the season

snow and ice

It wasn’t that dramatic an event, but a cumulative one.  Rain, sleet, and freezing rain fell pretty much all evening and night.  The accumulation of ice now has 70%(!) of Troy without power.  So far we still do (to state the obvious), but we have had it flicker a few times.  It’s a cold day to be without power, so hopefully they’ll be able to get the heat back on for folks real soon.

Over 200,000 have been without power in the Capital district.

The Red Cross has a list of shelters open.

It’s so beautiful, the ice sparkling in the trees when the sun hits it just right…..
….so far, no life has been lost, no homes burned down (in Albany, anyway). People are finding places to stay, with family, with friends, or in shelters.
I guess being up all night skews my perspective, then again:

Mat 6:25 “I tell you, do not worry. Don’t worry about your life and what you will eat or drink. And don’t worry about your body and what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than eating? Aren’t there more important things for the body than clothes? (NIrV)

…. and it is all soooo beautiful! 🙂

It is pretty. It’s been calm in these parts, too. Limbs fell and sirens blew all morning, but nothing major on our block. The sunset was indeed pretty this evening.

For us, it wasn’t as bad as an ice storm we had in Bonham, TX several years ago. Then, our power & heat were out for three days because our transformer blew (with an astounding bang).

Thank you James! It sounds and looks like you guys are having a pretty bad winter storm up there. We’ll be praying for y’all to get power back and that the storm will pass. I love cold weather, but no icy weather. We’re praying for y’all. Praying hard for God to send more and more workers to the Northeast. I am willing. Perhaps God will send me. God bless. Grace and Peace.
