Warning: Preacher Humor

Tonight I’ve been backing up old files on my computer. While checking the cd to make sure all went well, I came across an old joke I’d saved. It’s one of my favorites in the “preacher humor” category:

A new preacher moved into a town, and he went out one Saturday to visit some members of the congregation. All went well until he came to one house. It was obvious that someone was home, but no one came to the door even after he had knocked several times. Finally, he took out his card, wrote “Revelation 3:20” on the back and stuck it in the door.

The next Sunday, as he was looking over the cards placed in the collection plate, he found the card he had left on the door. Below his message was the notation “Genesis 3:10”.

  1. That’s a great joke!

There could be an alternate punchline…that “be fruitful and multiply” passage as well. Maybe not, the wording doesn’t fit as nicely, but it was a lame attempt at more humor on my part.
